Early next month, businesses are joining forces to support families in food poverty at Christmas. Networking group, Inspire Good, has teamed up with the North East Initiative on Business Ethics (NIBE) to throw a festive event to support Feeding Families, a charity that provides food hampers to alleviate hunger and support those struggling with the added pressures of the season. Food poverty is a growing issue in the UK and, while the focus grows at the festive season it is a year round problem.
The morning event will take place at the headquarters of Britain’s largest listed technology company (and the only FTSE 100 head office in the region) Sage who are supplying coffee, mince pies and Christmas choir entertainment. All guests are invited to bring a food donation to contribute to the Feeding Families hampers.
Designed to provide a support network for businesses and charities to explore ways to learn and share knowledge, Inspire Good has brought together over 180 charities and businesses since its inception in October 2018.
Jennifer Clair Robson from Inspire Good says: “We’re excited to be joining forces with the North East Initiative on Business Ethics to hold this event at Sage and highlight such a fantastic charity. The feedback has been tremendous from the private sector and charities alike over the course of our first year; the Charities we’ve supported include the Chronicle Sunshine Fund, Derwentside Breast Friends, Jessica’s Sarcoma Awareness, Smart Works Newcastle and Project Parent.”
Inspire Good also gives members the opportunity to discuss issues and ideas with and participate in training sessions that isn’t always accessible or affordable for charities and small business owners. Topics have included goal setting, presentation skills, bid writing and fundraising and effective decision making.
Jennifer adds: “We are all about doing good, and the beauty of bringing all these charities and businesses together is that we all help each other. We’re looking forward to a successful future and watching the growth of such a fantastic group of people.”
The festive event at Sage HQ costs £10 and will take place on 5 December, 9:30-11 am. 50% of ticket sales will go directly to The Feeding Families Christmas Appeal with the remainder going to support the work of NIBE. You can book here.
